A Special Event in My Life

My best memory is the thing I went on a school trip in my high school days. We went to Okinawa in winter. We visited Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum, Himeyuri Peace Museum and Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters and heard about the war from a person, who experienced it, to learn the world war. Although I didn’t know the war before I went on school trip, I knew what the war made many people sad, so I wish wars didn’t happen again. Of course, we went sightseeing too. For example, Shuri-jo and Kokusai-dori. I enjoyed it very much, so I want to visit Okinawa again.

Ichiro Suzuki

Ichiro Suzuki is a professional baseball player and was born in Toyoyama, Aichi Prefecture on October 22, 1973. At age of 7, he joined his first baseball team. In 1989, he entered Meiden High School and belonged to the baseball club. The next year, although he took part in the National High School Baseball Summer Championship, his team lost to Tenri High School in the first match. Nevertheless, in 1991, he was drafted by Orix BlueWave in the 4th round and belonged to the team from 1992 to 2000. In 1994, he began to use his given name “Ichiro” instead of his family name, “Suzuki” on the advice his manager. Then, he flourished in the Japan Professional Baseball League. In 2001, he moved to the Seattle Mariners in the United States of America. And this year, he attained his 2000th MLB hit and 200th hit of the season for the 9th consecutive year. He is typical of baseball players in Japan.

Short Story

One day, an old man went to beach with his dog to do sunbathing. The old man and dog began to take a nap. Then, the tide was making fast, so they were surprised. In the end, they soaked not sunlight but seawater. And his family looked at the situation.

My Job

I have worked delivering newspapers in my neighborhood with my younger brother since I was a junior high school student. I get up at 5:30 and deliver newspapers every morning. When have 1st period, I must leave my home for school at 6:50, so I’m very busy in the morning. In winter, it is hard for me to get up and leave the bed because it is cold. And in summer, I must do it even if a typhoon comes. In fact, I delivered newspapers while a typhoon came this year. Both the rain and wind were very heavy and strong and I was drenched with rain. Although it is very hard, I think that I want to continue my job while I am a student because the pay is my pocket money.

But he is very cute, so I love him.

About Me

My name is Mai Watanabe. I’m 20 years old. I’m from Yamanashi, and I live there now. Therefore, it takes me about 2 hours to go to school from my house. I think that my hometown is a good place.
There are 7 people in my family. I have 3 younger brothers, and they play baseball. I like watching their baseball games, so I often cheer them in the stadium. My brother, who is 18 years old, took part in an Asian tournament which was held in Korea as member of a Japanese team during this summer vacation. I wish I could have gone to Korea to cheer him. In the end, Japan came third.
My hobby is listening to music. Therefore, I always do it while I’m on a train or bus. I like particularly like “Porno Graffitti.” I have liked Porno Graffitti since I was a junior high school student because their songs are very cool. I also like reading comic books. They are about various worlds and greatly excite me.
I want to become a programmer in the future and will do my best for that dream.
